Alan Wentworth-Harley | must-haves for the super rich residents of Marbella

With 300 days of sunshine a year, 26km of sunny Mediterranean beaches, stunning views, and an expat community of over 300,000, it is no wonder that Marbella is the place where so many Britons aspire to own property.
And ever since The Only Way Is Essex shipped it's gang of fake-tanoholics from Sugar Hut to the Ocean Club for the series special of The Only Way is Marbs, Marbella became the hottest holiday destination faster than Joey Essex said 'reem'.

Now in a new and exclusive series to Home, viewers can follow the British estate agents, interior designers and developers working in the luxurious property industry in the popular region of Spain’s Costa del Sol.

The show, appropriately entitled Marbella Mansions, showcases extraordinary properties, which are designed to tempt and impress the super-rich - accurately reflected by their excessive asking prices and extraordinary designs.
Just one example is The Guadalmina Desire mansion which costs an eye-watering £6.5mn and is designed to appear as if it is floating on water, of course.

Designed with bank notes in mind, other features include a swimming pool, home cinema, spa, wine cellar, and most impressive of all, for sake of breaking a manicured nail flicking a light switch, the entire house can be controlled by an iPad.
The woman in charge of kitting out the homes of the super-rich is Devon-born interior designer Hayley Reed.

The 28-year-old already has a well-established business and is editor of her own design magazine in Marbella, and the mansion owners have instilled their trust in her.
Known to give her clients exactly what they want, she cannot wait to be given the keys to the Guadalmina Desire mansion to start her redecoration work.
Other characters in the 10-part series include Jonty and his partner Sebastian, who are well known in Marbella for their outrageous and colourful design style.
They have already built a bespoke dog house for £10,000 for a local Italian millionaire, who now wants them to build the most striking ‘super penthouse apartment’ in the region for himself

Then there is contemporary designer Sally Blackshaw who is challenged with transforming an old 1970s penthouse to make it ‘white and modern’.
In this case, as in most, the home-owner pays their deposit to the designer and does not return to their property until the whole place has been decorated and filled with luxurious furnishings including chandeliers made from Swarovski crystals.
But with a design budget of £83,000, Sally has plenty to work with.
The British estate agents, interior designers and developers who work in the exclusive Marbella property market are used to living a lavish lifestyle.
Nicky Dalli, son of famous opera tenor, Tony Dalli, is a property developer and builder working in the area and is no stranger to illustrious properties, he has even designed and built a mansion in the hills of Marbella with an asking price of £14 million.
